Lightning Prediction System |
The Township of Dennis has recently installed a Thorguard Lightning Prediction System at the Recreation Complex on Dennisville Road. The system is designed to predict a lightning strike within a defined geographical region. Once pre-established detection limits are reached, the system activates a series of horns and strobe lights to warn those in the park to seek shelter. Since this system is automated it can provide a warning even when there appears to be no evidence of lightning.
The system will be on alert during the hours of 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. When conditions for a lightning strike exist, the system will sound a 15 - second blast from the horn cluster and the strobe light will turn on. Anyone who hears the signal should immediately stop any outside activity and seek shelter. One danger has passed, the horns will activate an all-clear signal of three short 5 - second blasts and the strobe light will turn off.
*No system is one hundred percent accurate. Everyone should immediately seek shelter any time they believe lightning threatens them, even if a signal has not been sounded. |

The new fitness path at the recreation complex is a 1.3 mile asphalted path, it winds its way around the perimeter of the park and residents will find that it is perfect for walking, jogging and roller skating. Please keep in mind that bikes and all types of motorized vehicles are not permitted on the path. Stop by and take a walk! |

Many of the youth leagues listed in this brochure are for Dennis Township residents only. To be a resident of Dennis Township, you must officially and legally reside within the township's boundaries. Falsification of a registration form will result in immediate removal from the league/activity with no money refunded. |
|
The Dennis Township website, www.dennistwp.org provides another avenue for residents to find information on township services, programs and activities. Visit the site on a regular basis and stay up to date on the happenings of the recreation program. |
|
The municipal auditor has directed this office to deposit (within a 24 hour period) any monies collected for recreation programs. Since each program is run through an association and is made up of volunteers, we try very hard to accommodate the treasurers of these associations, as they are the persons responsible to deposit the monies. Therefore, there are specific dates and times set up for registration with no exceptions. |

children ages 2 through 5 (adult supervision required) and the school
age playground is for children ages 5 through 12 (adult supervision recommended). For safety reasons, and to keep the equipment in good working order, it is important that each playground be used only by the age group it is designed for.
