Monitoring Requirements Not Met for Dennis Township Recreation Center
We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During compliance period 7/1/2024 to 9/30/2024 we did not monitor or test for total COLIFORMS (including E. COLI) and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of your drinking water during that time.
FECAL COLIFORMS and E. COLI are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause short-term effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.
What This Means
This is not an emergency. There is nothing you need to do at this time.
Total COLIFORMS (including E. COLI) is the contaminant we did not properly test for during the last year. The required sampling frequency is quarterly. Samples were taken the first two quarters in 2024 but not the third quarter. The fourth quarter 2024 follow-up sample was taken on 10/24/2024.
Steps We Are Taking
The Township of Dennis is currently seeking to contract a new collection and testing facility to avoid future missed reporting periods. We began collecting our quarterly samples for total COLIFORMS on 10/24/2024 and will continue to follow our required monitoring schedule.
